Nicole Mendyka

A native North Texan, Nicole graduated from Guyer High as a member of the Wind Ensemble, Full Orchestra, and Lonestar Youth Wind Ensemble in 2016. As a future music educator, Nicole Mendyka currently studies at Oklahoma State University under Dr. Virginia Broffitt-Kunzer. She is currently a member of the OSU Wind Ensemble, Cowboy Marching band, and various chamber ensembles. Along with the Global Pedagogy Initiative, she is also a officer for the OSU Chapter of NAfME.

Youth Ambassadors

Laura Deng

Laura is a high school senior and serves as the Principal cellist in the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras and the 2017 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute Orchestra. She has played in NCHO, All-State Orchestra, OSU String Academy, CelloFest, and the OKC Cello Project. Laura attends the Oklahoma School of Science and Math, but she is active in the music community and hopes to inspire others to incorporate music into their lives. 

Meg Jackson

Meg Jackson is a sophomore at Edmond North High School. She has participated in the OKC Cello Project, Cellofest, NCHO, and is in the Symphony orchestra at Edmond North. Meg is also a sophomore senator for her school's student council, where she enjoys leadership opportunities and serving others. 

Shelby Sager

Shelby is principal cellist in the symphonic orchestra and a senior at Edmond Memorial High School. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a degree in music education and music business at Oklahoma State University. Shelby has been a member of the North Central Honor Orchestra, Edmond Memorial Pit Orchestra, as well as the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra. She enjoys participating in music opportunities such as OSU's CelloFest and OKC Cello Project, and volunteering for the Edmond schools' annual summer music camp.
